About Careers.Org
Careers.Org, is the work of it's founder, Marc D. Snyder, who, since 1995 has tried hard to live up to the Careers.Org motto : IF IT'S ABOUT YOUR CAREER ... IT'S HERE !!! The site tries to list only the most relevant career, job, job search, career education, self-employment, career services and career reference sites it can find.
Marc started Careers.Org after registering the domain in 1995. He had been running a Dial-Up BBS with Career Resources from July 1994. Originally and for more than 5 years he operated the site purely as a public service.
Marc tried to concentrate on building a respected directory of career web sites and encouraging college, city, state and federal government sites to link to it. In the intervening years the number of sites linking to Careers.Org has risen to more than 15,000. Typically nearly 500,000 page views are seen each month. People come to the site from links on other web sites, personal bookmarks and some 60,000 web searches each month.
Another popular career resource site in 1996 described Careers.Org as "an exceedingly well-organized meta-list of career related resources. Contains over 11,000 links to jobs, employers, business, education and career service professionals on the Web, plus over 6,000 other career resources ...". We think it still applies.
Marc was also the co-author of How to Get a Job in Seattle & Western Washington in 1998. He was co-author of How to Get a Job in Seattle / Portland in 1996.
