Bucknell University is a private university located along the West Branch Susquehanna River in the rolling countryside of Central Pennsylvania in the town of Lewisburg, 60 miles (97 km) north of Harrisburg. The university consists of the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Engineering. Bucknell was founded in 1846 and features programs in engineering, management, education, and music, as well as nationally ranked programs and pre-professional advising that prepare students for success in law and medicine. Bucknell is among the top 20 U.S. liberal arts colleges in the number of graduates who go on to earn doctorates. It has over 50 majors and 60 minors.
