Scholarships for Graduate School

While less common than undergraduate scholarships, scholarships for graduate students are available for students across the country.

Graduate students commonly rely more so on fellowships or school grants than graduate school scholarships, especially if you’re pursuing a high-need area like nursing or teaching. Still, these sorts of fixed financial aid are not always available and usually do not cover a graduate student’s living expenses.

Accordingly, a number of scholarship providers are willing to help graduate students meet the final portion of their education expenses by providing a bit of extra funding.

Graduate School Scholarships:

Graduate students should consider all of the options that were explored when funding an undergraduate education, such as essay scholarships, merit-based awards, and student and career-specific scholarships.

Further, graduate students can expand their search to organizations and sponsorship opportunities aimed specifically at their professional career choice.

For students already working in a professional career, some companies may offer incentive for employees pursuing an advanced degree. Many employers offer tuition reimbursement, sometimes totaling up to 100% of costs. While such students will likely be required to remain at their company for a specific period of time upon completing their graduate degree, the opportunity to earn a free professional education is still quite valuable.
