The objective of the Electronics, Computer and Telecommunications Technology program is to provide students with the technical and professional skills required for employment as entry-level technicians. Graduates will be qualified to seek positions as communications technicians, computer repair technicians, field service technicians, consumer product technicians and others. The program teaches electronics technology principles - emphasizing component-level repair and related mathematics. Logical troubleshooting techniques are taught throughout the program. This program will assist in preparing students for the Certified Electronics Technician (CET) exam. Also included are courses to assist students in preparing for the two examinations required for certification by the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) as computer service technicians. The A+ certification examination consists of two test modules: (1) the Core Hardware Service Technician examination and (2) the Operating System Technologies examination. The examinations measure essential competencies for microcomputer hardware service technicians.
