With the explosive growth in the computer industry, the need for skilled specialists trained in microcomputer systems is on the rise. This curriculum develops skills and understanding in computer system hardware and software configuration and computer troubleshooting, upgrading, and repairing. The emphasis is on expertise in software applications and excellent decision-making and interpersonal skills. Students not only will become proficient in various types of software applications such as database, spreadsheet, word processing, and desktop publishing, but also will be able to provide support to others in the use of these applications. Students with an Information Technology in Applications major will also be equipped with a broad background in computers, social sciences and communication. Graduates of this program will be prepared for entry-level positions in a wide variety of businesses. They can seek employment with companies who use, service, sell, or support personal computers.
