Medical Receptionist/Transcriptionist - Associate Degree at Kaplan College
The objective of the Medical Receptionist/ Transcriptionist program is to prepare students with the knowledge, technical skills, and work habits required for an entry-level position in the medical secretarial field. The coursework is designed to place emphasis on the development of specialized medical knowledge and business skills needed for accurate transcription and dictation of medical terms. Coursework, specialized medical training, and a College-approved externship combine to prepare graduates for employment. Medical Receptionist/Transcriptionist graduates may be employed in clinics, health maintenance organizations, hospitals, insurance companies, and physicians' offices. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be awarded an Associate of Applied Science degree. Duties for graduates of this program may include answering the phone, scheduling patients for routine visits and surgery, handling emergencies, and transcribing or recording dictation. Performing efficiently as a liaison between the physician and the client, the graduate will demonstrate effective management and interpersonal skills.
