The objective of the Computer Information Systems program is to prepare students with the knowledge, technical skills, and work habits required for entry-level positions such as computer service technicians, hardware and software user support, network administration, programming, and other high-demand positions in the information management industry. Students acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to network computers, implement programming solutions, troubleshoot hardware and software, and to manage data in a hands-on training environment, which provides real-world IT experience. The emphasis areas allow the students to choose a concentration in programming, network administration, or web development. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be awarded an Associate of Applied Science degree. Depending upon the concentration that a student selects, duties for graduates of this program may include resolution of hardware/software conflicts, hardware/software installation, computer troubleshooting, network administration and user support, creation and maintenance of databases, the debugging and expanding of existing programs, the designing and editing of web pages, and development and maintenance e-commerce.
