The objective of the Medical Assistant program is to prepare students with the knowledge, technical skills, and work habits required for an entry-level position as a medical assistant. This program concentrates on helping students acquire knowledge and develop skills in performing laboratory, clinical and medical office procedures. Students in the program are required to follow a prescribed dress code. Duties for the graduates of this program will include performing laboratory, clinical, and medical office procedures, and include routine laboratory tests such as blood work, venipuncture, urinalysis, and electrocardiograms. They assist the doctor in patient preparation, examination, and other patient relations. Competence in the field also requires a medical assistant to display professionalism, communicate professionally, and provide instruction to patients.
