The Paralegal Studies program exposes students to a wide range of legal areas. Students will acquire a fundamental awareness of the law and practical hands-on skills that prepare them to meet the demands of the paralegal profession. Courses focus on legal areas such as legal research; civil and criminal law; property law; and wills, estates and trusts. In addition, students are trained in legal research using online computer systems interfacing with a national legal database. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be awarded an Associate degree. The program teaches legal employees substantial research skills, advanced critical thinking abilities and sophisticated communication techniques. A number of interesting and varied externship possibilities available.
