The Fashion Merchandising curriculum provides a strong foundation in the basic principles of business with a concentration in fashion merchandising. The program establishes a firm base of fashion merchandising knowledge with emphasis on the language and terminology needed to communicate in the fashion field. Graduation is acknowledged by awarding an Associate in Specialized Business degree upon satisfactory completion of the program. Employment in the retailing field allows for job flexibility and provides the Fashion Merchandising student with an opportunity for career mobility through on-the-job training or management development programs. The Fashion Merchandising graduate is trained to study market research and buying trends, to design and install displays of clothing and accessories, and to coordinate and produce a fashion show. Job opportunities exist in department and clothing stores as well as specialty, shoe, book and gift shops.
