The objective of the Dental Assistant program is to prepare the students with the knowledge, the technical skills, and the work habits required for entry-level positions in the dental field. This program includes instruction in both the clinical and administrative aspects of dental assisting. Graduates may become Qualified/Expanded Function Dental Assistants by passing the Qualified Dental Assistant examination administered by the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners. Students are eligible to sit for the State Board of Radiology Exam. Graduates of this program may perform duties such as radiographs, instrument sterilization, tray set-ups, four-handed dentistry, equipment maintenance, impressions, model trimming, charting, and dental reception duties.
