The objective of the Phlebotomy/EKG Technician program is to prepare students with the knowledge, technical skills, and work habits required for an entry-level position in the medical field. This program includes instruction in advanced phlebotomy procedures and electrocardiography techniques. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be awarded a diploma. Graduates may become Registered Phlebotomy Technicians by passing the Registered Phlebotomy Technician Examination. Graduates of this program may perform duties in the hospital, medical office, clinic, or private laboratory. Specific duties may include performing venipuncture by vacutainer, butterfly, and syringe methods, capillary blood collection, electrocardiography with basic interpretation, infection control, minor laboratory testing, medical record documentation, and data entry.
