Medical Office Specialists are uniquely trained members of the healthcare team who are responsible for data entry, processing and maintenance of important medical records. Using industry-related computer equipment and software, they provide a valuable service by providing data that indicate disease patterns and trends. Analysis of this data may lead to new methods of diagnosis and treatment. Medical Office Specialists work in private doctors' offices, clinics, or even hospital admissions, patient records and insurance departments. Medical Office Specialists are in demand in today's medical community. They are the key to an efficient, profitable office. The objective of the Medical Office Specialist program is to prepare students with the knowledge, technical skills and work habits required for entry-level positions in the medical field in a private physician's office, clinic, hospital clerical department or other medical facility. This program includes instruction in computerized medical procedures such as insurance, bookkeeping, word processing and transcription. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be awarded a diploma. Our students will have the opportunity to practice the skills they learned in class during their externship.
