Kansas Wesleyan University is a private four-year Methodist college founded in Salina, Kansas in 1886. It is affiliated with the United Methodist Church. About 800 students attend the 28 acre campus, mostly from Kansas and the nearby Midwest. Half live on campus, and 99% receive financial aid. The university is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, the National League for Nursing, the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the Kansas State Department of Education. ACADEMICS: Liberal Arts foundation; more than 27 major programs: MBA, BA, BS, BASB, BSN, AA, AAS degrees; plus evening degree completion programs for adults in nursing, business management and criminal justice. Average class size: 20; student-faculty ratio 14:1. Member of the Associated Colleges of Central Kansas (ACCK), a consortium of six academic institutions within 70 miles (110 km) of KWU through which students may enroll in courses and resources. ACTIVITIES: Student government, clubs, publications and drama groups. The twelve varsity athletic teams compete in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) with competition through NAIA, Division II; men and women: basketball, track and field, cross-country, golf, soccer, tennis, cheer; men only: football, baseball; women only: volleyball, softball, dance. Plus intramural sports. The school mascot is the Coyotes.
