Farmingdale State is a coeducational, public college dedicated to educating students in the areas of business, applied arts and sciences, health sciences and technology. Farmingdale students enjoy small, personalized classes with dedicated faculty members who can provide the individual attention that is our trademark. Founded in 1912, Farmingdale State was Long Island’s first public university and we have over 78,000 graduates. A 4-year college with 33 degree programs, each is supported by a strong liberal arts foundation and designed to prepare students for successful careers in many of today’s high demand concentrations. Our technology-enhanced classrooms provide unique learning experiences, while our athletics program offers a welcome distraction from the classroom. Making friends and building personal relationships are integral parts of life here at Farmingdale.

Farmingdale State College is the only public college on Long Island to offer a comprehensive base of programs in the Applied Sciences and Technology. The College prepares students to be real-life problem solvers in traditional as well as emerging fields so that, upon graduation, their contributions to the economic vitality of the region, state, and nation are demonstrated. The educational experience at the College is centered on building a foundation of knowledge along with an appreciation of culture, ethics, esthetics, and diversity that empowers the graduate for continuous intellectual and personal development throughout life. The dedicated faculty and staff create a supportive environment in which teaching and learning take place through research and service.

Our students enjoy small, personalized classes with exceptional faculty members who provide individual attention. We prepare students for successful futures by providing real life applications of knowledge, critical thinking, and a sound liberal arts education to help them pursue rewarding and successful careers. By any appraisal, Farmingdale State College is a place where knowledge is a path to achievement, and where education is a tool for discovery.
