College Profile: Pennsylvania State University-Dickinson Law
Our mission is to provide an excellent professional education in a student-centered environment, to contribute to society by enhancing the understanding of law and legal institutions, and to promote the use of a legal education to help people and improve society.
At Penn State Law, you will discover a rich and diverse educational climate that challenges students to achieve academic and professional excellence. Penn State law students embrace the rigor of our academic program and are eager to contribute to the scholarly process. They edit and publish legal journals; participate in moot court competitions; support faculty research; serve clients, research key issues and contribute to legislative advocacy through our clinics and centers; engage in provocative dialogue in and out of the classroom; and coordinate lectures and symposia that enrich the academic experience. Held to the highest academic ideals and expectations, your peers will be an integral component of your learning experience.
We make every effort to celebrate and promote superior achievement, and we recognize our most extraordinary students through the Curtin Scholars Program.
Penn State Law offers a J.D. degree, an LL.M. degree for foreign-trained lawyers, and opportunities for interdisciplinary study with other Penn State graduate programs, including the School of International Affairs. Students can consult with the Academic Affairs Office to develop a course of study appropriate for their career goals.
Law school is a time for embarking on a career and building friendships. An extensive assortment of student groups, along with student-sponsored activities and events, give students the opportunity to not only enhance their overall learning experience but to participate in the life of the law school.
Many individuals and groups are active outside the law school and provide valuable services to the local community. Student volunteers serve food at the local soup kitchen, collect supplies for the community food bank, mentor elementary students, organize animal food drives, and collect clothing and toiletry items for families living in shelters.
In addition, area amenities and attractions provide entertainment opportunities catering to a variety of interests. Please visit the About our Community page for information on surrounding area attractions and/or upcoming events.
