Computer Support Technician (Diploma Program)
Through our Computer Support Technician Diploma program, we offer you the opportunity to gain the knowledge you need to search for entry-level employment in a field that is vital in today's business world. Through group discussions, lectures, and hands-on experience, you can learn about computer programs, hardware and software, and network systems. Upon graduation of this program, you can seek positions as a desktop support technician, help desk specialist, computer lab coordinator, office systems support specialist, hardware/software installer, or computer salesperson.
Dental Assistant (Diploma Program)
Dental Assistants have a variety of administrative and clinical duties. Some of the administrative responsibilities include scheduling appointments, answering the phone, completing patient files, completing insurance forms and more. Dental Assistants also take vital signs, expose and develop dental radiographs (X- Rays), make dental impressions and models, and function as the dentist's extra pair of hands in an operation. Most professional Dental Assistants work in private offices, either for a single dentist or a group practice, and have a mixture of administrative and clinical responsibilities. The objective of the Dental Assistant program is to prepare students with the knowledge, technical skills and work habits required for entry-level positions in the dental field. This program includes instruction in both the clinical (chairside) and administrative aspects of dental assisting. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be awarded a diploma. Graduates may become Registered Dental Assistants by passing the Registered Dental Assistant Examination. Graduates are also eligible to sit for the State Board of Radiology Exam. Our students will have the opportunity to practice the skills they learned in class during their externships. Individuals are required to obtain certification in radiology from the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (Board) in order to perform dental x-rays in Texas. The program will assist students in preparing for the exams required for this radiology certification. The program is not designed to prepare students for Board certification in nitrous oxide monitoring, which certification is required in order for Dental Assistants to monitor the administration of nitrous oxide in Texas. Graduates of the program will not be eligible for Board certification in pit and fissure sealants, which certification is required in order to apply pit and fissure sealants in Texas. General Practice Paralegal (Certificate Program)
Paralegals perform many different duties and tasks in a wide variety of job settings in law firms, corporations and government agencies. These duties may include legal and factual research, drafting of legal and other documents, business regulatory compliance, contract administration, and law office management.
Medical Assistant (Diploma Program)
As professional Medical Assistants, our graduates can work in private physicians' offices and may have a combination of administrative and clinical responsibilities. Medical Assistants are often found in clinics, hospital admissions, patient records and insurance departments. Graduates of this program may perform duties in both the administrative and clinical areas of a doctor's office, clinic or other medical facility. Some graduates may specialize in either clinical or administrative duties, but most perform duties in both areas. Specific duties may include assisting the physician with exams and minor surgery, administering medication, performing electrocardiographs, phlebotomy, minor laboratory procedures, taking vital signs, interviewing patients for medical histories, medical record documentation, reception duties, insurance billing and bookkeeping duties. The objective of the Medical Assistant program is to prepare students with the knowledge, technical skills and work habits required for entry-level positions in the healthcare field. This program includes instruction in both the clinical and administrative aspects of medical assisting, anatomy and physiology, and CPR certification. Graduation is acknowledged by awarding a diploma upon completion of the program. Our students will have the opportunity to practice the skills they learned in class during their externships. This program at the Midland campus will assist students in preparing for the Nationally Registered title of Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) exam sponsored by the National Association for Health Professionals. Students without a high school diploma or GED will not be eligible to take the NRCMA exam. This program at the Midland campus will assist students in preparing for the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) exam sponsored by the American Medical Technologists. Students without a high school diploma or GED may not be eligible to take the RMA exam.
