Mission Statement

MISSION OF THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS SYSTEM The University of North Texas System meets the needs of the citizens of Texas and, in particular, the citizens of the North Texas region, for a high quality university, professional and life-long education, delivered on traditional campuses at numerous off-campus sites and through electronic means. By linking their resources with those of other state and regional education institutions, and actively developing partnerships with businesses, other professions and communities, the System's components address the education, health, economic, cultural and social needs of the State and the region. The UNT System has fully embraced a commitment to excellence. Its Denton campus, the University of North Texas, is the largest and most comprehensive university in the region, with excellent graduate programs that support high quality undergraduate programs. UNT is consciously evolving into a top-tier research university, has inaugurated a PK-16 effort and is laying the groundwork for a new university in Dallas. Its Fort Worth campus, the University of North Texas Health Science Center, already recognized for state-wide leadership in the preparation of primary care physicians, aspires to state and national leadership in biomedical research, and in the discovery of new strategies to develop and implement more effective public health policies and practices.
