Coleman University is a nonprofit San Diego based technical institution. It is nationally recognized as a leader in Information Technology (IT) education. Since 1963, Coleman has provided accelerated career training that has helped its students become leaders in the IT industry.

The mission of Coleman University is to prepare students for meaningful careers in the computer professions, while providing an environment where those who become a part of this academic community may develop their full potential as human beings.

Coleman consistently provides extensive hands-on experience for its students, who have ready access to the latest computer equipment. That's part of the Coleman difference. We expect our graduates to encounter a wide variety of technical events and problems on the job, so it makes sense for them to encounter them first during training.

Coleman University was founded in the 1960s as an institution that prepared students to enter the Information Age. It subsequently became a recognized leader in the technological revolution. Coleman has educated thousands of professionals and continually changes its course offerings as industry standards change. The University's "inverted curriculum" offers your career training first. Following this curriculum, in only a few months students can be qualified for a computer-related career.

They can later return to Coleman for evening classes to complete an associate, bachelor's or a master's degree. Coleman maintains small classes to assist students in their studies and each entering class remains together throughout the "major" portion of their training. Located just 25 miles from San Diego, the San Marcos campus is surrounded by a thriving job market. This area also is part of San Diego's excellent transportation network for mass transit.

The Graphic Design program teaches the skills and provides the experience to start in this exciting career field. The program begins with an introduction to computer applications, and moves on to the fundamentals of drawing and graphic design. Students quickly acquire advanced skills in designing and producing print materials and Web pages. Students also build a professional portfolio to take to potential employers upon graduation. Upon graduation, students of the CGD program at Coleman University are well-prepared to seek employment as a creative director, digital publisher, digital artist, graphic designer, web designer, or desktop publisher.

At Coleman University, students learn on state-of-the-art equipment. The University's goal is to prepare students for any challenges they may face in the job market and that includes offering the latest computer equipment on which students learn. Included in the University's labs is a large number of computers including PC, Macintosh, midrange and mainframe. This equipment is updated regularly. Multiple computer platforms are interconnected via a switched Ethernet that provides students with highest level of experience on the most commonly-used computer systems found in business and industry.
