Audiologist - Orlando – Day

Orlando seeks to hire Audiologist who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.



Facility Profile:

Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,107-bed Florida Hospital Orlando, serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America. Florida Hospital Orlando houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country. We are already one of the busiest hospitals in the nation, providing service excellence to more than 32,000 inpatients and 125,000 outpatients each year.



Department Profile:

The Pediatric Rehabilitation Center is located in the Florida Hospital Orlando Health Village. This new, state-of-the-art facility focuses solely on the treatment of pediatric patients with learning and/or physical disabilities resulting from injury, illness or congenital reasons. Services offered include physical and occupational therapy, speech-language therapy and audiology services. Therapy sessions are tailored to be both fun and functional, promoting carryover into the home, school and community environments. Our therapists provide education to parents, allowing them to learn techniques to use in the home environment to ensure the successful recovery of the patient..



Work Hours/Shifts:

On call position. One to two days per month for cochlear mapping and assessment. Must have pediatric cochlear experience



Job Summary:

Provides direct and indirect services to all specific age groups. Utilizes process improvement in achieving the goals of the Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine Department. Adheres to the Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies, and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.



Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required:

  • Doctoral degree in Audiology
  • Entry-level professional competency and commitment to patient oriented practice
  • Desire to learn and upgrade clinical skills
  • Basic computer skills to include Outlook, Microsoft Office and Windows (Preferred)


Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:

  • Current valid State of Florida license as an Audiologist
  • CPR certificate


Job Responsibilities:

Demonstrates through behavior Florida Hospital’s Core Values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship and Teamwork as outlined in the organization’s Performance Excellence Program

  • Evaluates patients, interprets results accurately and provides a written report with recommendations within guidelines.
  • Completes financial agreements and follows up with the patient in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Documents accurately, completely and timely with legible handwriting. Uses measurable and objective terminology following standards of practice, insurance guidelines and department/hospital policy and procedures.
  • Charges patients accurately, timely and legibly according to guidelines of CPT code format, price file, and following insurance guidelines.
  • Utilizes appropriate approach and communication skills for the population served, which may include: Neonate/Infant (birth < 1), Pediatric (1 < 12 yrs), Adolescent (12 < 18 yrs), Adult (18 < 65 yrs) and Geriatric (65 + yrs).
  • Identifies the need for patient/caregiver teaching and utilizes each opportunity for teaching on a planned or spontaneous basis. Documents education and understanding as appropriate.
  • Participates in practice changes as a result of performance improvement activities. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department.
  • Willingly adjusts and adapts to changes in patient census by altering working hours to assist in other centers/programs as appropriate and observed by manager.
  • Practices principles of employee and patient safety when performing daily job activities via observation.
  • Complies with FH Compliance Plan, rules and regulations of all local, state, and federal agencies, and with the standards of all accrediting bodies and payers as evident through documentation reviews, tracers and rounds results. Takes responsibility for the environment of care by monitoring and taking action as needed.
