1The Meadows Psychiatric Center is a 117-bed inpatient behavioral health care facility with numerous outpatient programs, which span the entire continuum of care. The beautiful 52-acre rural campus is located minutes outside State College in Central Pennsylvania. The Meadows Psychiatric Center provides comprehensive services to children, adolescents and adults.
Universal Community Behavioral Health (UCBH) is the continuum of the outpatient care system that The Meadows Psychiatric Center founded in July 1999. At this time, the facility recognized some of the challenges in rural areas surrounding the hospital and began a mission to extend behavioral health services by developing an array of programs based on community needs throughout surrounding counties.
UCBH includes programs such as:
• Mobile Crisis
• Outpatient Therapy and Medication Clinics
• Blended Case Management

The candidate selected will be responsible for the following:
-engaging w/individuals experiencing mental health and/or drug & alcohol crisis on the telephone or face to face
-achieve short term goals through resolution of the crisis event escalation and conflict resolution
-provide recovery oriented supportive counseling, verbal de-escalation and conflict resolution
-facilitate referrals for outpatient and inpatient services
foster positive relations with community partners such as hospitals, police, schools and human service providers
The following are the job requirements for the position:
-Bachelor's degree with major course work in sociology, psychology, criminal justice, human development or any other human service field: OR Registered Nurse: OR high school diploma with 12 credit hours in sociology, psychology or other social sciences and 2 years direct mental health experience
-well-developed written & verbal communication skills; ability to work independently
-ability to work a flexible irregular schedule in order to meet the needs of the program
-must reside within 20 mile radius of county lines and have dependable transportation.
