We are seeking experienced Process Operators for our First Quality Tissue facility located in Anderson, SC. Process Operators are responsible for operating more than one type of machine in more than one department in a safe, competent, efficient, and productive manner. Each converting operator must be constantly watching the lines for lights and sounds which usually indicate problems or malfunctions of the machines. Each operator must keep a safe and clean work area.

Primary responsibilities for Converting department include:

  • Unwinder or Backend Operator:
    • Loading and unloading the parent rolls (averaging 3,000 lbs. per parent roll).
    • Check each parent roll's ticket and scan it into the system for tracing and quality.
    • Load and unload chuck trucks to the unwind stand.
  • Winder or Frontend Operator:
    • Check the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
    • Make adjustments to the process if necessary via the HMI (Human Machine Interface).
    • Perform quality checks.
  • Wrapper Operator:
    • Start the machine and make sure the product is being wrapped well.
    • Inspect the product.
    • Check the HMI (Human Machine Interface) for wrapping temperature and other controls.
  • Palletizer Operator:
    • Make sure the robot correctly picks up the product and stacks it on the pallet.
    • Make sure the exit plate correctly puts and scans the label onto the package.
    • Do quality testing for samples of the product. Load the information onto the computer.

The ideal candidate should possess the following skills for Converting Department:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Industrial experience recommended.
  • Ability to operate computer equipment.
  • Strong mathematical and mechanical skills required, as well as troubleshooting skills.
  • Work rotating 12-hour shifts, switching from nights to days consistently. Some mandatory overtime required at short notice.

Primary responsibilities for Paper department include:

  • Owns personal and team safety. Observes all safety rules and uses the proper safety equipment at all times.
  • Follows necessary GMP and other manufacturing regulations/guidelines.
  • Manages respective papermaking support function. Receives work direction from the DCS Operator and Lead Process Operator.
  • Operates select pieces of process and material handling equipment.
  • Ensures all raw material inventories are maintained and communicates any issues with Lead Process Operator and DCS Operator.
  • Ensures quality and workmanship standards are met for the products being produced.
  • Ensures process and product quality checks are performed as required.
  • Maintains any required record keeping.
  • Ensures shift-to-shift communication is maintained.
  • Practices good housekeeping by keeping the machines and surrounding areas clean.
  • Cuts up paper machine broke rolls and scrap and properly disposes of them.
  • Develops and maintains operating procedures and ensures all SOP's are followed.
  • Communicates any and all operating problems and status to the Lead Process Operator.
  • Properly trains other Process Operators and other team members as required.
  • Relieves other team members for break periods as required.
  • Assists maintenance personnel as needed.
  • Performs other duties as necessary when directed.
  • Show up for work ready to work every day.
  • Becomes an expert at his/her position, but capable of performing all papermaking Process Operator jobs.
  • Qualified to fill in as the DCS Operator on the paper machine.
  • Understands the business and the impact of his/her position.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills for Paper Department:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous heavy industrial manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude including ability to operate a forklift.
  • Mathematical skills to operate and understand Laboratory testing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team oriented environment.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot problems.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Work rotating 12-hour shifts, switching from nights to days consistently. Some mandatory overtime required at short notice.
