The duties of the Metal Recovery Technician include the safe and efficient operation and mechanical repair of all equipment associated with the Residue system, ferrous system, and Nonferrous system including the movement of all material throughout the facility. This includes the ability to operate Frontend Loaders, Skid Steers, Man lifts, Lull’s and Forklifts. Responsibilities consist of the operation and maintenance of rare earth magnets, belt conveyors, motors and gearboxes, vibrating pans, grizzlies, screw conveyors, ECS magnets, drag conveyors, pug mills and PLC control center operation. In addition the mechanical ability to perform preventative and corrective maintenance including gearbox and motor change outs, ECS and conveyor belt change outs, screen and spring replacements, structural weld repairs and proficient in the use of Oxy-Acetylene torches and plasma arc.
HS Diploma or GED is required. Minimum of 3 years mechanical/operation of heavy industrial equipment. Understanding and proficient in operation of hand tools, power tools rigging skills and SMAW/ MIG welding. Strong Mechanical aptitude and SMAW structural weld certification a plus. Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders and work in overhead positions requiring harness and or safety line.
