General Description of PositionThe Mathematics, Sciences, Technologies, and Business Division (MSTB) at NOVA’s Annandale Campus has a need for a part-time instructor to teach Accounting.
The primary responsibility of a faculty member in the Virginia Community College System shall be to provide quality instruction for the students. The major emphasis shall be on good teaching by working with students in classrooms, laboratories, individual conferences, and related activities—to help the student develop their interests and abilities to their fullest capacity to become a better person, a better worker, and a better citizen. Teach courses in Accounting.
Master’s degree in Accounting or a Master’s degree plus 24 graduate semester hours in Accounting and some relevant occupational experience.

Several years of related occupational experience
Possession of a current accounting industry-related certification (e.g. CPA, CIA, CISA, EA, etc.)
The candidate should have knowledge of major concepts, theories and subject matter in Accounting.
The candidate should have the skill to teach courses in Accounting as well as excellent interpersonal, analytical, and oral/written communication skills.
The candidate should have the ability to relate basic principles of Accounting to students and use instructional technology.
The selected candidate’s offer is contingent upon the successful completion of an extensive criminal background
investigation, which may include: fingerprint checks, local agency checks, employment verification, verification of
education, credit checks (relevant to employment), and other checks requested by the VCCS and NOVA such as
I-9 and E-Verify requirements. Additionally, selected candidates may be required to complete the Commonwealth’s
Statement of Economic Interest.
