Mildred Elley, a private multi-campus institution, is seeking Adjunct Instructors for Biological Sciences at its Albany campus. The faculty and staff of Mildred Elley have a demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, focusing on academic improvements, student service improvements, and accreditation and compliance improvements.
This position requires the instructor to teach Anatomy & Physiology I, Anatomy & Physiology II, or Pharmacology classes to students in healthcare oriented programs of study. The Anatomy & Physiology classes will consist of both a lecture and lab portion. The lab portion does involve dissecting different animal specimens. The pharmacology class has both the biochemical aspects of pharmacology, as well as a practical side of pharmacology. This class is lecture only and does not include a lab or clinical section. As an adjunct instructor, the candidate is required to teach the class and render assistance to those students who need it. We encourage our instructors to make themselves accessible to other students as well, and any tutoring hours are paid outside of the normal adjunct instructor stipend (being hired for any Mildred Elley position does not guarantee a tutoring position).
Required & Preferred Credentials:
A minimum of a Master’s degree is required, along with 18 credits in Biological Sciences (Combined, whether undergraduate or graduate). The ideal candidate has experience teaching General Biology, Anatomy & Physiology I/II, and Pharmacology, as well as experience with having adult learners of diverse ethnic backgrounds in their classes. Employment is conditional based on a background check.
