Slitter technician is responsible for all aspects of production of our slit rolls. The technician is responsible for running the machine including set up, operation, monitoring product for quality as well as knife maintenance and maintain the cleanliness of the equipment.
Duties also include some data entry, computation of knife measurements, and taking of samples from production.
Supper duties for which everyone is cross trained and required to perform in rotation of positions involve loading and unloading paper from the machine, cutting cores, and setting up shafts with cores and spacers as required, cutting tube inserts with a chop saw, palatalizing orders, reading and underestimating job requirements, operating the forklift to load and unload trailers, stretch wrapping the pallets, lifting 50-70 pounds periodically, operating scanners and doing some data entry to print labels.
This is a small team environment. Individuals are brought in and generally given the task of learning how to read our orders and palatalize the cartwheels. The next progression is to learn the core cutting and shaft set-up procedures followed by forklift orientations and eventually operating the slitter.
