Talascend is currently seeking a BIM Lead (MEP) Engineer for a contract opportunity located in Reston, VA.
This is a contract position for a BIM Lead (MEP) who will develop and implement BIM standards and processes for large scale projects in the transportation sector (Rail, Aviation, Highways etc.). Experience in delivery of conceptual, preliminary and final design of building MEP systems is a must. The BIM Lead (MEP) will be responsible for setting up standards for managing the scope and integration of work assigned to subcontracted design entities. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, and experience with creating innovative design workflows and engineering work processes.
Creating standards and workflows for the delivery of MEP designs that comply with project requirements.
Support practices and application of BIM (Building Information Modeling) throughout the project life-cycle (estimating to turnover).
Create standard work processes to coordinate and integrate design work between engineering disciplines and other design consultants.
Create standard work processes to coordinate design development (schedule, LOD, model authoring etc.) with other departments which may include construction, estimating, project controls, procurement, and contracts management.
Create standard processes for the preparation of quantity take-offs.
Provide Technical input on a broad range of projects.
Experience with co-authoring of BIM execution plans, setup and management of BIM model files.
Demonstrated experience in execution of owner-driven BIM requirements and setting up project processes, workflows and audits to ensure compliance.
Has general understanding of Building Codes, Mechanical Codes, Electrical Codes and Plumbing Codes.
Responsible for reviewing and assessing technical submissions from Professional Service Consultants (PSCs) determining compliance with BIM standards and requirements.
Responsible for the development and maintenance of the MEP BIM library, Detail library and seed files.
Proficient in creating Revit content, setting up models for production and optimizing Revit workflows.
Fluent in using Navisworks for model reviews and clash detection.
Has experience with generating schedules and quantity takeoff from the BIM model.
Responsible for creation of desktop guides and conducting training sessions.
Knowledge of building mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems including building management systems, emergency power systems, low voltage systems, and life safety systems.
Proficiency with Revit is a must.
Minimum five (5) years’ experience as BIM lead/Coordinator or BIM Manager on large complex buildings/facilities.
Detailed knowledge of Electrical, HVAC and plumbing design.
Advanced capabilities in AutoCAD, Dynamo, BIM360 is a plus.
Experience and advanced proficiency with Revit for MEP design.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of using BIM for Facilities Management (FM).
Professional Engineering License/Registration in both the US and Canada.
LEED certification and experience in sustainable design.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
