Industrial Combustion Technician Job#17071

This is a unique and proactive position for an industrial Combustion Service Technician will be the on-site Technician located at a major client’s processing plant site.  The purpose of this position is to offer heat processing and combustion services to customers to help move from a reactive program to a preventative maintenance program.  Company a long term contract that this person will preside over at the customer's location.

The site where this Service Tech is stationed is a large multi building manufacturing site that has lots of in house equipment that utilizes industrial combustion equipment as part of their manufacturing process.  This equipment consists of industrial combustion based process equipment including the various controls, Spray Dyers (SD), Kilns & Calciners, Violet Kettles (VK), and the Manganese System (MNO).  Most time and tuning will be calculated to the kilns as they are the final stage, which has the highest equivalency of final product performance. Namely, you will spend time reviewing the data-acquisition charts to identify kiln zone performance, and coordinate plans and times to make adjustments. This will be in addition to breakdowns that happen during the day.

You will be the on site Technical expert in terms of troubleshooting, maintaining, keeping all documentation regarding the manufacturing equipment. Will have full support available from combustion and electrical engineering and the entire corporation from top to bottom.

The technician’s experience will be challenged to implement:

 ​Preventative Maintenance Optimization (PM Optimizing),

 online and hands-on training programs for location staff (LMS),

 ​Documentation of Changes in Procedures (CiP) and Burner Performance Records (BPRs),

 ​Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and

 ​PM & Breakdown service.

 Communicate with customer supervisors, team leaders, engineers, mechanics, and operators on findings, developments, and recommendations

 Respond to breakdowns and system tuning as needed

 Plan and assist in coordinating planned shutdown work, including assisting customer in a contractor oversight

Based on a 40 hour week,  the following is a rough breakdown of how time will be spent on the job:

 Documentation including documenting existing 25% of time spent on the job

 Project management of customer's Preventative maintenance program 25% of time spent on the job

 Tune the Preventive Maintenance Systems: 20% of time spent on the job.  This will include combustion safety audits, Annual burner system cleaning, replacing components as necessary. Also, will develop a seasonal tuning program.  Also conducts temperature uniformity surveys.

 Troubleshoot/Breakdowns, including root cause analysis and implementation of new and improved ideas to minimize breakdowns.: 20% of time spent on the job

 Communication with customer's team: 10% of time spent on the job

Compensation: $54,000 to $75,000


A diverse knowledge of industrial combustion systems, including experience troubleshooting electrical systems. At least 5 years of such experience.
