Sedgwick is home to many granite quarries, most of which are in various stages of abandonment. James Russell Wiggins, former U.S. Representative to the United Nations, is buried in Rural Cemetery. Sedgwick schools were once featured on a segment. The countryside around Sedgwick is a haven for birdwatchers as well as an out-of-the-way tourist stop with several bed and breakfast locations.
