Swan Quarter (sometimes named Swanquarter) is an unincorporated village in and the county seat of Hyde County, North Carolina, United States. The latitude of Swan Quarter is 35.405N. The longitude is -76.331W. Elevation is 0 feet (0 m). The population, at the time of the 2000 census, was 958. Swanquarter is located in North Carolina's Inner Banks region. Swan Quarter is located on Swanquarter Bay, an inlet of Pamlico Sound. In the 1700s, Samuel Swann settled along the Pamlico Sound near the head of Swan Bay. Swann's Quarter was the first name given to this settlement. Eventually shortened to Swan Quarter, it became the county seat in 1836.
