Seale was the county seat of Russell County, Alabama from 1868-1935. After 1935 it was at least considered by some a county seat as late as 1952.The town is home to the counties only high school, middle school, and an elementary school. Much of the old town is extinct but the well known Old Russell County Courthouse still stands. The building is often used for social events. Seale had a population of 343 in 1950.
