Clarksville is the birthplace (on Aug 29, 1922) of John Edward Williams, author of the National Book Award fiction co-winner for 1973 Augustus and of the novel Stoner, and also J.D. Tippit, a Dallas police officer who was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald a few hours after Oswald assassinated President John F. Kennedy. (from wikipedia)
