Fate is a city in Rockwall County, Texas, United States. The population was 497 at the 2000 census. As of the 2006 census by the North Texas Central Council of Governments, the fate of Fate has improved – the city's population was estimated at 3,300. With much growth, the city's services have grown as well. The city hired its first paid fire chief in 2006. Many new subdivisions are being built in the area as a result of the growth of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The Peasall Sisters, a bluegrass/gospel group that contributed a song to the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack, recently wrote a song inspired by Fate, about growing up in a small town.
