Marathon is a census-designated place (CDP) in Brewster County, Texas, United States. The population was 455 at the 2007 census. The high-end Gage Hotel is located in Marathon. The town was a filming location for the movie Paris, Texas directed by Wim Wenders. John "White Gravy" Neutzling, noted cowboy chef, filmed a couple of his syndicated show segments on the outskirts of Marathon. John has also won grand prize at the Terlingua International Chili Championship held each year in Terlingua, Texas. He has said he uses no more than seven ingredients in his prize winning recipe.
