New Ulm, Texas is a small, unincorporated town in south central Texas located midway between Austin and Houston. It was founded in 1841 as "Duff's Settlement", named for James C. Duff, who purchased the original land on which the town was built. The original site of New Ulm is approximately one mile away from its present location. New Ulm, located Austin County at the intersection of FM 109 and FM 1094, is midway between six larger towns — Columbus, Bellville, Brenham, Sealy, Fayetteville and LaGrange.
