Wilder is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Hartford in Windsor County, Vermont. The population was 1,636 at the 2000 census. It is home of the Wilder Dam on the Connecticut River. Wilder is on the National Register as a Historic Village and is unique as an early planned community developed in part by Charles Wilder, owner of a local paper mill in the 1880's.
