Carlisle is the fifth most populous city in Lonoke County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 2,304 at the 2000 census. Part of Arkansas' Grand Prairie region, Carlisle and its history are tied largely to its role as an agricultural center with emphasis on rice farming, and its status as a onetime railroad outpost along the former Rock Island Railroad line.
