Franklin County is a county located in the U.S. state of Georgia. It became Georgia's ninth county in 1784 in honor of Ben Franklin. It covered all of what is now Banks, Barrow, Clarke, Jackson, Oconee, and Stephens counties, parts of Gwinnett, Hall, Hart, and Madison counties, as well as three counties in South Carolina. As of 2000, the population was 20,285. The 2007 Census Estimate shows a population of 21,793 . The county seat is Carnesville, Georgia. (from wikipedia)
