Kaufman County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. In 2000, its population was 71,313. Its seat is Kaufman, and the county is part of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Both the county and the city are named for David Spangler Kaufman, a U.S. congressman from Texas who was the first Jewish person to serve in Congress from Texas.
